Who is Matt Swenson?

NEW LEADERSHIP DELIVERING RESULTS FOR OUR COMMUNITY

In 2014 Matt began working as a camera operator for Orca Media, Montpelier's public access station. While filming countless public discussions and political proceedings, Matt was immersed in the issues, hardships, and challenges facing the people of Washington County and the state of Vermont.

Being behind the camera, Matt observed these matters in silence, but over the last two years he has been infused with a sense of urgency and duty to serve the community in a more vocal and direct capacity. Matt Swenson believes that our current legislature is unable to create significant progress and prosperity for the people.

Matt was born in the Pacific Northwest, in the state of Washington. His family relocated to the East Coast, where he grew up in the hills of western New Jersey, in a rural farming community.

He lived some of his adult life in Pennsylvania, where he became the chief of bio-assay operations for an environmental toxicology laboratory. Prior to this position, Matt worked for an innovative oceanographic and aquatic toxicology firm. Over his 18 years in the environmental field, he worked in many diverse and adverse environments, where he developed the skills necessary to be a leader in Vermont's future.

In 2013, Matt retired from the environmental field and moved to Vermont. He was drawn to the Green Mountain State by his long family lineage in New England, including roots in Vermont.
