Facing the issues head on!

NOW, MORE THAN EVER, WE NEED A BOLD CHANGE!
Economy

Vermont's economy is not providing for the people. Privatizing liquor sales would allow businesses more flexibility in serving their customers, and would yield higher profits. Attracting tech companies would provide jobs to young people graduating from our wonderful colleges. Bringing back film makers incentives would allow major motion pictures to be made in Vermont once again.

Education

Our current state education policy via Act 46 is just another sign of a broken legislature. It is time that the Vermont legislature explores better options than the policy that has been forced on us.

Property Tax

Most Vermonters would agree that our property taxes are simply too high. Our current leaders have proposed penalizing households that make over $200,000 a year, but few of us fall in that category. These penalties will not create balance, but will jeopardize our future by persecuting much needed professionals such as physicians.

Environment

Improve Act 250; it is one of our biggest assets and one of the biggest reasons why our state is still green. Our moose population has dropped over 50% in the last 10 years. Elk could be reintroduced and elk permits could offset the lost moose hunting revenue. We need to improve water quality in all of Vermont's waterways, and while doing so, be fair to farmers. To fight climate change, a multi-state coalition could be created.

Healthcare

Every human being has a right to health care. Vermont Health Connect has cost taxpayers over 200 million dollars, but has insured less than 30K people. Shifting these 30K people to Vermont medicaid would be more effective and fair for everyone.

Cannabis

It should be self-evident that people have the right to grow cannabis for personal use. In the last session perfectly reasonable cannabis legislation was rejected, despite Vermont spending millions of dollars on research committees and hiring the Rand Corp. The general proposition to create state dispensaries and revenue is fantastic, but the rights of the people must not be infringed.

Privacy Rights

Vermont spends millions of dollars a year on a highway license plate surveillance program that has never been used to solve a crime. Eliminating this system could provide funds for rising health care costs. It is important that legislators always think of the people before they think of the interests of the state, and be wary of spying on individuals in the absence of due process.

Living Wage

It is imperative for Vermont's workers to earn fair pay. Simply put, without better pay, young people can not support themselves, and will be forced to continue to leave the state.

Term Limits

We must implement measures to prevent abuses of power that are facilitated by unnecessarily long terms of office.
